• Mauritius is history

22 nov – 8:40 UTC This morning we have passed Mauritius and is at the moment in 27th place. Xinanhook (ESP) took late yesterday over the lead from TeamNasstuga (SWE). We have good winds at the moment, from east 5 m/s (10 kts). On the eaterns side Brainaid (GER) turns more easterly. Intressting. Behind us Jepsom (SWE) is speeding good, watch out. He is sailing wery well at the moment. Further back the second group is out from the high pressure and is now sailing in good winds.

Top 3 just now: 1 Xinanhook (ESP) 2 Mac (POL) 3 Brainaid (GER)

• Mauritius in sight

21 nov 14:00 UTC No, we can’t se the Mauritius Islands yet, but soon, tomorrow I hope we will pass the Islands. Tango is paced at 31th place and just in the middle of the leading group. In the north the leading TeamnasStuga is slowing down in light winds. In the south part of the leading group we have the german Brainaid and his followers Mac, Xinanhook and Skantorp. The leading pack, about 200 boats is sailing in SE winds, 10 to 15 knots. Further south the big high pressure going to move away and the wind will increase. But they, the boats in the high is more than 300 Nm behind the leaders. Down there we have Farmor, Mistli, Laiska, Wiz and more.

• Decreasing winds.

19 nov – 17:50 UTC The weather forecasts show us a bigger and bigger high pressure, and the competitors are sailing as fast they can in diffrent ways to come away from the light winds. On Tango we have 12 knots wind speed. The northern boats hav better wind speed, but soon worser angle. I think ther will be many boats catched by the high.

• Are we dead here in north?

18 nov – 18:10 UTC I feel hunted! Why I choose this northerly route? Maybe Laiska (Fin) is right, we here up in north are dead! But the big high pressure is passing just behind me, but later there is more areas with light wind.
In south of me, about 100 Nm, I have Brainaid (Ger) and his follower Mac (Pol). And more than 430 Nm in south we have Laiska. But the leader is TeamNasstuga. I don’t know anything about that boat.

• South or north?

16 nov – 19.00 UTC We are on our way to India. After some calculating we choose a southerly strategy. More wind and later turning more to south. Now we are down in south and the north boats has got the wind back again…and now I think we went to much south. But we have good campany down here by Grilo (Bra) SunFast (SWE) and Lattjolajbanladan (SWE).

Leg 2 start

Tomorrow, saturday it is time for the start of the second leg from Cape Town to Cochin, India. Tango and the crew is in good shape and we are looking forward to sa start in light southerly winds.

• Podium place for Tango

Tango took the 3rd place in the Cape Town Inport Race. The beat after start was important and we find a very good way. Lattjolajbanladan (SWE) took the victory in front of Zappe (?).

• Tango reached Cape Town

1 nov – 19:10 UTC The top competitors has reached the harbour in Cape Rown during today. The first to pass the finnish line was the german Brainaid. Congratulations to germany and Brainaid. Well done! Because of the light winds just outside the finnish, it became a close finnish. Second boat to reach Cape Town was Oceanspray (SWE) and third was NOR_Sam (NOR). My father with the blue boat, Farmor did a very good last day of this race and passed the finnish line as number five four. Even my mother Mistli did a very good race, 16th place. By the way, it is her birthday today. So on board Mistli served birthday cake. Some minutes later Tango reached the finnish in place 23. After a long and hard race with many good competitors I’m satisfied with this 23rd place. Now i is two weeks of repairs and maintenance of the boats before the next leg to India.

• Busy days

31 oct – 13:30 UTC I’m back with my computer. It’s not easy to write a blog in a boat sailing in rough seas in southern Atlantic. But now the wind is decreasing. Only 9m/s. I’m a little bit worried about our southerly position, but the latest weather forecast looked better for us in south. The germans K3 and Brainaid looks good, but it is not many miles between the boats. Tomorrow afternoon we know who are the winner of the first part och this Ocean race.
